Why Work With Us

Steve Johnson, the head wrangler and owner of Rocking J Farms, lives on the premises and is directly responsible for the care and well being of your horse.  A lifelong horseman Steve started working at the racetrack when he was 13 years old.  He worked his way through High School and College at the race track. During this time he worked for such Racing Hall of Fame trainers such as the late great Jack Van Berg.  As he was raising his family Steve coached High School Equestrian Team and has 3 State Championships under his belt.  Steve has also managed the United States Park Police Mounted Patrol barn in New York City and is a licensed carriage driver in New York City’s Central Park.  Steve insists upon compassionate and quality care and nutrition for any and all livestock under his direct care.
