Our Services

Pasture Board

Pasture boarding is provided in several large, grass turnouts. All fencing is high tensile poly coated wire specifically designed for horses. Each area has a run in shelter and horses have access to clean, fresh water and top quality grass hay 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The horses are routinely rotated between pastures to ensure a good supply of fresh grass during the growing season and to prevent overgrazing. Your horse will NOT be standing in a muddy mess all day.

Indoor Arena

Our indoor arena provides the perfect accommodation to keep your horse legged up and fit during the winter and times of inclement weather. As a boarder you have full access to the arena 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Stall Board

Stall board includes, twice per day feedings (hay & grain), daily turnout, daily stall cleaning and of course fresh water always. We have a few different size stalls to accommodate anything from a mini horse up to a giant Clydesdale.

Here at the Rocking J you and your horse will be treated like family. We are centrally located; 30 minutes to Lansing, 30 minutes to Jackson, 30 minutes to Chelsea, 30 minutes to Brighton, 40 minutes to Ann Arbor, 20 minutes to Howell. There is abundant trail riding opportunities in close proximity to the farm. Tack up and ride over to Lakeland Trails or take a short 20 minute trailer ride to Waterloo Recreation Area, Pinckney Recreation Area, or Brighton Recreation Area.

Why Work With Us

Steve Johnson, the head wrangler and owner of Rocking J Farms, lives on the premises and is directly responsible for the care and well being of your horse.  A lifelong horseman Steve started working at the racetrack when he was 13 years old.  He worked his way through High School and College at the race track. During this time he worked for such Racing Hall of Fame trainers such as the late great Jack Van Berg.  As he was raising his family Steve coached High School Equestrian Team and has 3 State Championships under his belt.  Steve has also managed the United States Park Police Mounted Patrol barn in New York City and is a licensed carriage driver in New York City’s Central Park.  Steve insists upon compassionate and quality care and nutrition for any and all livestock under his direct care.
